“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”—Anne Frank
Feeling financially stress-free is a state of mind. We create this state through our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and feelings. If we are unconscious of this fact, our minds run by habit. Most of what we think every day is the same old news, endlessly repeated by the same old voices. We may want things around us to change, to improve our circumstances, to get more wealth, health, love, and happiness. But if we want our lives to change on the outside, we have to change on the inside. We must deliberately choose our thinking and decide before the fact that our bank account is, indeed, full.
The way to do this is to start appreciating the abundance that is all around you in the world, whether it is currently in your possession or not. Abundance is a flow of energy in constant motion around us. Admire the wonderful riches that exist everywhere and celebrate the fact that it is possible to create such glorious treasures. Each person who holds wealth is only its steward for a time. Understand this metaphysical truth: You cannot have what you envy another having. The energy of envy repels the object of its desire.
When I first visited England, I ogled the crown jewels at the Tower of London. They were amazing! Great pearls and rubies adorning crowns, emeralds and diamond scepters, gold and jeweled necklaces, rings, some very ancient. If there were no kings or royalty, these beautiful items would never have been made and they are so beautiful to behold. I’m glad that someone was rich enough to have been able to pay some wonderful artisans to design and painstakingly hand-craft these fabulous creations, so I could enjoy looking at them.
There’s so much of life you can enjoy, without having to own it. Admire something beautiful today, just for the pure sake of its existence.
Today’s Affirmation:
“I revel in all the wealth and joy that life has to offer!”
“Oh, I need your products!” said my friend, Sarah, to the woman at the networking meeting who was a skin-care representative. “Please call me tomorrow morning so I can talk with you about what I need to buy.”
Then she saw a woman who did graphic design. “Oh, I need graphic design for my new flyers and my web site, too!” she exclaimed. “Please call me tomorrow morning so you can help me decide what I need to buy.”
Neither woman called the next morning. In fact, they never called.
What’s up with that?? Aren’t they networking to get more clients for their business? And here was a client with money who wanted to buy – why wouldn’t they call her?
Sarah’s experience wasn’t the only one. Throughout my networking career since 1986, I heard stories like these over and over again. Most small business owners continue to network and not get the results they want, and make a lot less money than they deserve.
Especially women.
