“Most of my major disappointments have turned out to be blessings in disguise. So whenever anything bad does happen to me, I kind of sit back and feel, well, if I give this enough time, it’ll turn out that this was good, so I shouldn’t worry about it too much.”—William Gaines
We set our minds, set our goals, and start sending out ships to make all our dreams come true. We are headed for Breakthrough, for the golden shore where the sun is always shining, the money is rolling in and everything is going our way.
But Breakthrough is often preceded by Breakdown. This is because much of what you’ve been hanging onto—out of fear of change—has to get out of your way in order for you to live your dream. The challenges strengthen us as we overcome them and we have to grow in order to escape the pain. Dr. Jeffrey Mishlove states that it is the law of nature to push itself to the brink in order to create crises and then evolve. Every system in the Universe evolves through crisis. Looks like we human beings do, too.
Our crises take place on two fronts: Internal battles and external ones. We fight to overcome our shadow side; to become kind, generous, loving human beings. And as we grow, we struggle to survive the storms at sea that threaten our ships and sometimes even our lives. It’s important to remember, when the waves are pounding, your ship is leaking and you can’t see daylight, that the shore is still there where you left it. The storm is just a test designed to strengthen your resolve, test your nerve and your dedication. You will be better off because of it. Without the storm, you cannot appreciate the peace of calm waters.
Today’s Affirmation:
“My wonderful breakthroughs create my fabulous successes!”
“The money is in the phone!”
That’s one of my favorite expressions. I’ve used the phone to sell millions of dollars of workshop enrollments over the past 25+ years.
Yeah, I know. You really don’t want to call people. You want all the marketing you do to work and just have people sign up to buy without having to talk with you.
That will work for free stuff or a few small sales. But for the big-ticket items, they want to talk with you. They need you to coach them through the buying process, because statistics show that people are twice as afraid of losing their money as they are hopeful that you will give them what they need.
I cry for the people who don’t understand the difference between marketing and selling.
Marketing includes:
Newsletters, Emails, Blogs, Speaking, Networking, Social Media, Blogging, Publishing books and e-books, Radio interviews, Audio recordings, Free teleclasses, Videos
You’ll definitely get some interest in your work from this – people will love your content and want more. But then, they may just wait for all the free stuff and never buy anything.
Sound familiar?
“The money is in the phone!”
People buy from you when they know you, like you and trust you. How are they going to get that from a generic email that goes to everyone?
They want to know if you can help them! If you don’t talk with them, you’re going to leave most of your prospective clients unfulfilled and underserved. And you won’t make the money you deserve.
Because I make my “Gold Calls”, I’ve been successful with my Financial Stress Reduction® workshops for more than 25 years. I close nearly every sale on the phone.
Yes, they were reading “The Wealthy Spirit”, yes, they had heard me speak or were on the free teleclass, yes, they were Facebook friends, yes, they met me networking, yes, they read my blog, yes, they got my emails…
…But they BOUGHT my program because of OUR CONVERSATION.
You see why I think the money is in the phone?
